We provide the following:
Spay/Neuter Program:
This project is an important effort to reduce the number of animals coming into the shelter daily. Monthly, we fund spay/neuter procedures for pet owners in Harrison County. Applications for this program can be found here.

Volunteers from the HSHC assist with paperwork while local veterinarians administer low-cost canine and feline vaccinations at different locations during the month of September. Dog licenses are also available for purchase at each location.

Adopt Love:
Members volunteer at the Flora Shropshire Animal Shelter; host/co-sponsor adoption events as needed to reduce overcrowding in the shelter; host an Open House in February to celebrate Flora Shropshire’s birthday on Groundhog’s Day; host a Holiday Open House in December.
expansion of the shelter by building an exercise yard, a puppy room, and the Sallie McKemie Cattery
various maintenance projects of the building in partnership with the Harrison County Fiscal Court
purchase of cat carriers to be sent home with newly adopted cats
replacement of Kuranda beds
purchase of warm blankets for the dogs
purchase of crates, slip leashes, and a dishwasher for sanitizing water and food bowls.

Meetings are held on the second Thursday of the month.
To promote humane care and treatment of all animals in Harrison County needing protection, to prevent cruelty to all animals, to relieve suffering among animals, and to extend humane education with an emphasis on spaying and neutering companion animals.
